Schoolhouse Rock Live!

Conjunction Junction, what’s your function? Another collaborative effort by City Circle Acting Co., the Englert Theatre and the Iowa Children’s Museum brings the children’s TV series to life in Iowa City Oct. 17-19 at the Englert. The show was a Saturday morning cartoon series that taught history, grammar, math, science and politics through clever, tuneful songs.

Performance times are 7:30 p.m. Oct. 17, 2 and 7:30 p.m. Oct. 18 and 2 p.m. Oct. 19. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students and seniors and $10 for children 10 and younger and are available by calling the Englert box office or online at www.englert.org.

Presents Winnie the Pooh

Join Pooh and his friends from Hundred Acre Wood for a performance your young kids won’t soon forget. This interactive production will ask the audience to imitate Pooh’s renowned “stoutness” exercises, learn Tigger’s Whoop-de-Dooper Bounce and play along with Rabbit’s super-sized garden vegetables. The show will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids. Girls on the Run 5K

Join dozens of third- through sixth-grade girls taking part in the Girls on the Run program for the main event of their fall season — the Girls on the Run 5K Sunday, Nov. 23, at the Ashton Cross Country Course on the University of Iowa campus. Girls on the Run is a program that promotes physical activity with self-esteem and character building lessons. The program is at six elementary schools in the Iowa City School District and dozens of girls are training to build their endurance to complete a 5K run. Kids’ Christmas Shopping Spree

The city of Coralville hosts its annual shopping spree for kids from1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Coralville Recreation Center. Kids get a chance to purchase and wrap gifts, donated by local merchants, for their family. Cost of the gifts range from $1 to $20 each. Parents are encouraged to sign up their kids in advance by calling 248-1750. Children will need to bring money for purchasing gifts.
